2023, What’s Different?

The past few years have been interesting (to put it mildly). Speaking from a counselor’s perspective, I have seen both positive and destructive trends emerge. For many of us the end of a year and beginning of a New Year is an opportunity for reflection, evaluation, planning, and goal setting. I am encouraging you to consider what are you doing in 2023 that’s different? Then I want you to consider why you’re doing it. Examine your intentions to see if they line up with Scripture (God’s will). While many of us recognize change is necessary. Change in lifestyle, behaviors, or mindset can be very difficult.

There is a reason why many of us avoid it. I want to encourage anyone thinking about making healthy changes in their life and/or relationships to take the necessary steps to start. I am not going to offer 3-steps to happiness or 4-things to leave behind this year, but I will offer hope and healing for those that want to place their faith in the Lord and do the work necessary to make those changes happen. It will most likely be difficult and require some hard work but remember You Can Do Hard Things!

If you have been considering counseling for yourself or your marriage, I encourage you to find a counselor that is a good fit, make the call, schedule the appointment, show up, and do the work. You can do it and you will be better for it. The New Year is a great time to do something different. Doing the same thing will result in the same outcomes. You are worth it; your marriage is worth it. May 2023 be your best year yet!
